A man apparently walked into the lake at MacArthur Park and drowned this morning, authorities said.

His body was pulled from the water by L.A. Fire Department divers, LAFD spokesman Shawn Lenske reported at 11:11 a.m.

… appeared to be in his 30s, according to the LAFD.

Rescuers were called to the Westlake park at 6:41 a.m. based on reports of a “male in water” and “male that was swimming in water,” unusual because of the cool fall temps and unsavory quality of the lake.

There were reports that the man simply walked into the lake, although LAPD Officer Rosario Herrera couldn't confirm that to the Weekly, saying only that witnesses told cops “that they saw someone go inside the lake.”

Police were called to the scene around 7 a.m.

The death was under investigation.
