Mac & Cheeza: With Chorizo & Ham

Earlier this month we reported that Mac & Cheeza was on the verge of closing after a dispute with their landlord in the Chapman flats. Sad but true: The DTLA shrine to mac 'n cheese will close after this weekend. While owner Larkin Mackey, who also owns the more formal Eagle Rock restaurant Larkin's Joint, looks to roll out Mac & Cheeza food trucks in New Orleans and then Los Angeles, he plans to open a quick-service spot inside the small room at Larkin's.

Mac & Cheeza: Interior

In an email sent today to Mac & Cheeza customers, Mackey writes:

Just wanted to drop y'all a note to let you know of the changes happening with us. After this weekend we will no longer be in DTLA, we want to thank all of you in DT for supporting us we had a good run, unfortunately the owners of the building felt we were doing too good and got a little bite from the greed monster. So it is time to move up and on! We will be opening a quick service spot in the small room at Larkin's, So get ready Eagle Rock, let the delivery begin!

Look for the first Mac & Cheeza food truck to launch in March.
