18-Year-Old Charged after Striking Woman and Child near Chandler Boulevard

CHANDLER, AZ (November 2, 2021) – Tuesday afternoon, 18-year-old Luis Romo-Valadez was arrested after a hit-and-run crash on Arizona Avenue.

Police responded to the scene around 2:30 p.m., near California Street after receiving multiple dispatch calls in the area.

According to reports, the driver of a silver Ford Mustang lost control for reasons unknown. As a result, the vehicle struck a mother who was pushing her child in a stroller. The vehicle then struck a tree before coming to a stop at a nearby block fence.

Following the collision, the driver fled the scene without rendering aid to the victims involved. The suspect’s father later called police to let them know his son had returned from Mexico with damage to his vehicle.

Police then arrested Luis Romo-Valadez at an apartment near Alma School, in Chandler. Per court documents, he faced a hit-and-run misdemeanor charge.
