Wrong-Way Crash near Tea Pot Dome Results in Fatality

PORTERVILLE, CA (November 16, 2021) – A wrong-way crash on Highway 65 claimed the life of Luis Carlos early Saturday evening.

According to the police, the accident happened around 6:30 p.m. Dispatchers responded to the area shortly after.

Per reports, Carlos was heading south in the northbound lane of the highway, just north of Tea Pot Dome. Consequently, Carlos’ GMC Canyon pickup collided with a Dodge Caravan.

Eventually, officers pronounced him dead at the scene. Meanwhile, his passenger was airlifted to Kaweah Health for medical treatment.

Authorities also took those inside the Dodge Caravan to Sierra View District Hospital with minor injuries.

Officers said alcohol is likely a factor in the collision as they found full and empty beer cans inside Carlos’ pickup.
