57-Year-Old Pedestrian Killed in Accident near Jaime Obeso Sunbeam Rest Area

SEELEY, CA (August 9, 2022) – Friday afternoon, Luis Alonso Miramontes-Marquez was involved in a fatal pedestrian crash on Interstate 8.

The deadly collision happened around 1:23 p.m., near the Jaime Obeso Sunbeam Rest Area on August 5th.

According to reports, a box truck driven by 27-year-old Miramontes-Marquez struck the pedestrian as they were walking on the right side of the westbound lanes.

Despite life-saving efforts, medics pronounced the 57-year-old male pedestrian dead at the scene. Although, authorities have not yet released their name or place of residency.

Meanwhile, crews closed the surrounding area for a brief time during cleanup and preliminary duties before it was later reopened.

At this time, an active investigation is still currently underway.
