Departing from last year's night market theme, LuckyRice will be returning to Culver City next Saturday, July 27, with an all-inclusive pan-Asian feast from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Book Bindery. The fete will feature food and drink from quite a few chefs who participated the year before, including host Sang Yoon (Lukshon, Father's Office), Jet Tila (The Charleston), and Kris Yenbamroong (Night + Market).
“For our first year in L.A., we wanted to bring our night market, which is more street food-oriented, to Culver City. And this year, we're bringing the LuckyRice Feast. So, it's more of a variety of chefs, from street food to fine dining,” says founder Danielle Chang.
LuckyRice relies on members of its culinary council, composed of 16 notable names such as José Andrés, Daniel Boulud, Susur Lee, Eric Ripert and David Chang, for advice in its event planning. As host chef in L.A., Yoon (who joined the council this year) was tapped to help compile a list of chefs and restaurants invited to participate in next Saturday's feast. Other chefs, such as Tila, provided their recommendations as well.
“Whether it's takeout California rolls in supermarkets coast to coast, the phenomenon of pho, or how Asian cuisine has seeped into fine dining, Asian food has entered all pockets of America,” explains DanielleChang. “I wanted the festival to really reflect that spectrum and celebrate how widespread Asian food is.”
