It's been said before: We like to like things. Is that so wrong?

Specifically, we like Dublab. We like Lucky Dragons. We like free stuff. And we like good causes.

Well, all four come into play as the Dublab radio/events/music collective kicks off its semi-annual Proton Drive, which raises money through donations to help keep its myriad culture-enriching activities going.

Need a refresher on said activities? Review last year's “Ten Days of Dublab” in honor of the non-profit's tenth anniversary, or just troll West Coast Sound.

And in any case, the always tasteful Lucky Dragons thinks what the organization is doing is good enough to offer up a brand new song for the cause.

The “Open Wide” Proton Drive fundraiser kicked off on Tuesday, May 11, and continues on until Thursday, May 27.

Here's what Dublab has to say:

“Labrat DJs and our extended family of music pioneers will be broadcasting live on dublab.com, sharing electrifying sounds to inspire support.

The Proton Drive is a bi-annual affair that is absolutely essential to dublab's existence. As a non-profit web radio station our positive music mission relies upon generous listener donations to provide 30% of our operating budget. These funds allow us to bring infinite streams of amazing music to the world.”

And they mean it. The collective's DJs include some of the city's best, including artists like Daedelus, Ras G, Dntel, Gaslamp Killer, Nobody, Matthewdavid and Kutmah — the latter of which won't be able to participate due to a controversial immigration arrest.

Plus, contributors stand to gain all kinds of exclusive goodies, from expertly constructed mix discs to autographed posters to a Golden Half Camera.

But whether or not you choose to give (and we hope you do), this song is absolutely free.
