41-Year-Old Fresno Man Pronounced Dead after Bicycle Collision near Shields Avenue
FRESNO, CA (September 18, 2024) – Luciano Becerra Garcia died early Friday morning, in a bicycle accident on Highway 41.
The incident occurred at approximately 4:45 a.m., just north of Shields Avenue.
Investigators reported that the driver of a northbound Chevrolet Impala failed to see the bicyclist ahead, resulting in a collision between the car and the bicycle.
The impact caused the bicyclist to be thrown into the traffic lanes, blocking two lanes of the highway. The 19-year-old driver of the Chevy pulled over and remained at the scene.
Emergency responders transported the bicyclist to a nearby hospital, where he later died from his injuries. The Fresno County Coroner’s Office later identified the deceased cyclist as 41-year-old Luciano Becerra Garcia.
Fresno County officials will provide additional details about the fatal bicycle accident once the investigation is complete.
