“Is this your first time?”
It's a common question at a Lucha VaVoom show, and, yes, it was my first time. If you've never been, you should go TONIGHT (though it's sold out). Anyway, if you're feeling down and want a little lift-up, is there any better drug than Mexican wrestling and burlesque? No. No. No.
LA Weekly photographer Timothy Norris, who's been shooting the past six or seven Luchas, set up a portrait studio last night in the basement of the Mayan, and all through the proceedings as body slams echoed above, Norris was stealing souls with his camera. Amazing shots from amazing people. We'll have a full slide show tomorrow (Norris is ringside tonight), but for now, a few teasers.
