Jose Fructuoso was arraigned in Superior Court Thursday on one charge of murder in connection with the weekend stabbing death of Fountain Theater director Bennett “Ben” Bradley, with whom he had a relationship. The 25-year-old pleaded not guilty, even though police claim that he confessed to the attack.

Bradley, 59, was found about 5:50 p.m. Saturday at his home in the 100 block of South New Hampshire Avenue in Koreatown. He sustained multiple stab wounds, police said. Surveillance was set up around the apartment and police say they arrested Fructuoso after they spotted him walking around the area Monday.

Los Angeles Superior Court Commissioner Donald S. Kennedy ordered the suspect to remain in jail or fork over $1 million bail. A hearing to determine if there's enough evidence to try Fructuoso is scheduled for Jan. 21.

The Fountain Theatre has set up a memorial fund for Bradley's funeral. Info.
