Where else but at Cinefamily can you watch a tribute to “nunsplotation” movies? The Fairfax-based art house run by fun-loving film freaks is hosting Cinefamily's “Fantastic, Elastic 24-Hour Fundraiser Telethon” in an effort to plan its 2012 budget. Helping loyal patrons and Johnny-come-latelies stay awake are more than a dozen invited artists and friends: Elliott Gould hosting a talk; Spike Jonze and Benicio del Toro screening movie clips; band No Age playing live; Pulitzer Prize–winning LA Weekly restaurant critic Jonathan Gold discussing food and film; and the Magnetic Fields' Stephin Merritt hosting more movies and music. Plus, theater regulars Doug Benson (film trivia) and Jerry Beck (cartoons) doing their part. Also includes food, giveaways and Coolhaus ice cream. If Black Friday is the only time of year you'll stagger out of bed in the middle of the night, the telethon will be streamed online. Less maudlin than the MDA Labor Day Telethon, more meshuggah than the Chabad Telethon. Cinefamily, 611 N. Fairfax Ave., Hlywd.; Sat., Dec. 17, beginning 12 p.m.; free. (323) 655-2510.
