Los Angeles police said Thursday they're probing a possible love triangle in connection with the murder last Friday of a woman who survived the 2008 homicides of her husband and one daughter in the same Hollywood neighborhood.

Det. Dan Myers told Associated Press they're investigating the possibility that a “third party” connected to the family could be responsible for all three slayings. Authorities have offered to put a surviving daughter in protective custody, but family members want to take care of her for now.

Karine Hakobyan, 38, was discovered inside her Honda CRV with a gunshot wound to the back of her head Friday night in 5800 block of Lexington Avenue in Hollywood. (Other news organizations — probably because the victims are of Armenian heritage, erroneously had the neighborhood as Little Armenia, which lies to the northeast).

Her husband, 43-year-old Khachik Safaryan, and their 8-year-old daughter Lusine were found slain December 11, 2008, inside their nearby residence at the time in the 1200 block of Tamarind Avenue.
