Beef at a Koreatown karaoke bar ended in death for one man, 54 years in prison for another.

On Wednesday 24-year-old Louis Woo Lee got more than half a century behind bars for the shooting death of 36-year-old Michael Kim outside M2 Cafe & Karaoke Bar on West Sixth Street near Windsor Square.

The saddest part of the story is that Kim was an innocent:

Prosecutors say Lee, from La Habra Heights, was gunning for another victim, who suffered a graze wound in the June 7, 2009 attack.

It started as a squabble inside the bar two hours earlier. When Lee showed up to pick up his bros, the dispute they had turned into a fight outside.

Prosecutors said Kim, an Orange County resident, had simply intervened to break it up. He was shot in the head.

Lee was convicted of second-degree murder and two counts of assault with a deadly weapon.
