What appeared to be a meteor screamed over the skies of Los Angeles overnight.

The streak of light in the night sky also lit up Twitter with reported sightings. The Los Angeles Fire Department was inspired to tweet that ” .. we are in routine operations. There are no emergencies in Los Angeles related to the sighting of a bright light in our atmosphere.”

It happened …

… before 11 p.m.

The American Meteor Society published several user reports of the reported meteor from folks across Southern California, from Anaheim to Santa Ynez, shortly after 10:30 p.m.

One user said:

I thought it was REALLY big, bigger than a normal one. It lasted a long [time].

An Instagram user snapped a photo, here.

This after at least 1,000 people were injured in a Russian meteor shower last week.
