Los Angeles is the second largest city in the nation and the biggest in California, by far. It's arguably the entertainment capital of the world. We have swimming pools. We have movie stars. Not to mention beaches and pretty people.

But, according to housing information firm Movoto Real Estate, there's one thing we don't have:

A decent singles scene.

Yep. Despite all that action on the Manhattan Beach boardwalk, the cruising on Crenshaw and the clubbing in West Hollywood, we barely even rate in our own state.

The firm's ranking of “The 10 Best Cities to be Single in California” has Los Angeles a lowly sixth, behind Sacramento (?), Oakland (??), Anaheim, Santa Ana and San Francisco. Hey, at least we beat out the beer mecca of San Diego, right?

San Diego

San Bernardino

Long Beach

According to Movoto, the rankings were based on things like rate of married people, number of bars, romantic restaurants, affordable real estate, cost of living, and median age.

We're going to guess here that we got Fs in affordable real estate and cost of living, because we're through the roof on bars and restaurants.

If you really want to see L.A. jump up on this list, maybe you should support the proposed law that would allow local cities to stretch last call to 4 a.m. Now that would be fuel for romance in Los Angeles.
