In the Los Angeles City Council District 7 race, frontrunner and former state assemblyman Felipes Fuentes will most probably run away with the contest. That's not to say he's the best candidates in the world — he's actually known as the “Worst Legislator in California.”

But rivals Jesse David Barron, Krystee Clark, and Nicole Chase do not have the kind of political connections and name recognition as Fuentes.

As of now, according to the Los Angeles City Clerk, Fuentes has jumped out to an early lead with 2,77 votes or 52 percent. Chase is second with 1,461 votes or 27 percent, Clark has 531 votes or 10 percent, and Barron has 534 votes or 10 percent.

Fuentes raised $226,000 in campaign contributions while his opponents couldn't crack $20,000. He has an excellent chance to win more than 50 percent in the primary and avoid the May runoff.

Council District 7 covers neighborhoods in the northeast San Fernando Valley.
