It looks like initial reports that actor Charlie Sheen's car was stolen and then driven off a hillside are actually true. We say actually because there seemed to be a lot of doubt out there about the odd story this morning in which Sheen reported his car stolen and, about the same time, rescue crews found it 400 feet down a nearby Mulholland Drive hill. (No, his stormy relationship with beau Brooke Mueller did not inspire her to chase him down the street with a golf club).

Police told the Los Angeles Times that several garages in Sheen's neighborhood had been broken into early Friday. And now there's a report that another car — KNX 1070 Newsradio is calling it a Bentley — has been found at the bottom of the same hillside, in the 13800 block of Mulholland. Could be related. Stolen good were reportedly found in Sheen's mangled, Mercedes-Benz S-Class, which he reported stolen shortly after 4 a.m., apparently when an OnStar-like Mercedes operator called to notify him that the car's airbags had deployed.

E! Online reports that Sheen left the keys in the car, with the garage door open, after coming home at 8 Thursday night following a day taping his hit show Two And A Half Men. Apparently the actor born Carlos Irwin Estevez has the bad habit of leaving the keys in his Benz, as he lives in a gated community.

It's not clear how burglars got inside the exclusive Sherman Oaks enclave in the hills that separate the San Fernando Valley from L.A.'s Westside. Police are reportedly examining security video.
