The Gourmandise School of Sweets and Savories is spreading love to food enthusiasts’ kitchens with their lineup of virtual Valentine’s Day cooking and baking classes. On February 12, aspiring bakers are invited to spend the morning baking a variety of macarons including the classic almond shells, colorful shells, heart-shaped shells and chocolate ganache in the School’s Friday Bake: Valentine’s Macarons class. Later that evening, couples are welcome to share in a special Date Night: Valentine’s Pasta Dinner where they will learn the art of creating the perfect pasta dough and tomato sauce to pair with a simple arugula fennel salad and berry vanilla panna cotta. 

On February 13, at-home cooks are encouraged to grab a loved one and join in a Date Night: Valentine’s Steak Dinner to master a steak au poivre paired with classic potato gratin, endive, radish and herb salad with Dijon vinaigrette and finished with a caramelized apple cake.

Each interactive virtual class is led by a Gourmandise chef who will be the guide through a live step-by-step tutorial of each dish. Guests can sign up for a class online at www.thegourmandiseschool.com. Registered participants will receive a grocery list and a Zoom ID prior to the start of the course.

Passionfruit Martini

2 oz Grey Goose La Vanille vodka

1 oz passion fruit liqueur

2 ½ oz passion fruit puree

2 flat bar spoons of homemade vanilla sugar

1 shot of champagne on the side

 Method: Fill a cocktail shaker with ingredients and shake for 20 seconds. Fine strain into a chilled cocktail glass and garnish with half a passion fruit. Serve with a shot of champagne on the side.
