This place makes Animal House look like a sober-living facility: Long Beach police raided a home on Caspian Avenue last night that was fully stocked with more psychedelics and exotic reptiles than a Mojave Desert trailer park.
Here's all the loot that cops pulled from a single insane drug den near the Port of Long Beach (based on various reports):
- Magic mushrooms being grown in “a sophisticated lab.”
- 22 live marijuana plants — nine in a shed and 13 in the house.
- Peyote cactus.
- Some dried weed.
- 4 boa constrictors.
- 3 tarantulas.
- 1 scorpion.
City News Service and NBC LA are reporting that all the drugs “appeared to be for personal use.” Jesus.
However, Long Beach police spokeswoman Lisa Massacani says that three occupants at the residence “were booked for various charges, including possession… with intent to distribute.”
She says the whole fiasco started about 6 p.m. last night as police were searching for a felony suspect in the area. During that search, they came upon a residence with signs of marijuana cultivation. So around midnight, they returned with a search warrant — and hit the freaking jackpot.
But after all three suspects were hauled down to the station and the reptiles turned over to Long Beach Animal Services, things got even freakier.
A house fire broke out at the residence around 1:45 a.m. — and it doesn't appear to have been an accident.
The fire was “suspicious in nature,” says Massacani. “Apparently someone went back or was in there.” Furthermore, police tell City News that “arson investigators found indications an accelerant was used in setting the fire.”
House of freaking horrors, right? If you live in the 1900 block of Caspian Avenue in Long Beach, our deepest apologies. But really — how did you not notice these guys?
