Living in an era where music seems to be in constant flux it is refreshing when I come across an artist who truly creates from a nostalgic and classic angle. Lon Sterling originally from Topanga, California is now 34 years of age and has been making music since he was just a teen. Going through many transitions in his music career he has in recent years developed a very unique sound. His music is influenced by a couple of legendary singers/ songwriters like Gary Clark Jr, Jack White, Leon Bridges, and Prince, but he has found a way to bring his own flair and life story to the table through his genre bending music. His new single “Butterfly” is just the beginning, and we can expect a lot more tasteful tracks to come out in the next couple of months.

Growing up in California Sterling quickly found his passion for music, leaving the states at the young age of 18 to travel around Europe with his band, he has experienced a diverse set of cultures and has brought his experience to life through his music. As a young man he spent over 11 years traveling the world, and at an age that is very formative. Much of Long Sterling’s development as artist and performer  was shaped in his travels throughout Europe. Spending 8 years in Berlin, 1 year in Stockholm, 3 years in London before returning to the United States and spending one year in Manhattan, Sterling attained a lot of life experience in a short amount of time.

His new video for his hit song “Butterfly” has already amassed over 130,000 views on YouTube in under 3 months. This song has a real west coast rock soul aura, and is extremely catchy. With a heavily classic guitar line, and a raw and emotional vocal performance, “Butterfly” is one of those songs that is perfect for your summer time playlists. The music video has a very psychedelic rock feel to it, with warping visual effects and trippy animations, it is very appealing visually and adds a lot to this already impactful record.

Sterling plans to release 2 more singles before the release of his major upcoming Full length LP which will be titled “The Renegade”. “Butterfly” being one of his first solo tracks in a while, fans are eagerly awaiting the next release from this buzzing artist. His new band TheSterlingexp is going to be the next big thing out of L.A.

If you are a fan of West Coast Rock/ Soul music this is the artist for you, make sure you give Sterling a follow on social media, and watch his new video “Butterfly” on YouTube.
