Lola's in West Hollywood Closing After 17 Years

Loren Dunsworth, owner of Lola's in West Hollywood, is closing her restaurant-bar after 17 years in business, on Sept. 8. “I'm retiring with all my chips (and more) and at the top of my game,” Dunsworth says. “What better time to take a bow and leave the stage but after a long-running, strong performance? Lola's was a great run and it has been our loyal following that made it such a fun place to work.”

Since its founding in July 1996, Lola's has been a “woman-owned business in a man's world,” PR rep Henry Eshelman said in a farewell email to patrons. “Lola's had one of L.A.'s first extensive martini menus and is reputed to have originated the apple martini,” he added. As for Dunsworth's next steps? She's keeping all options open.

There's still a few more weeks to throw back happy hour cocktails. Expect pop-up specials, bottomless brunch, last-minute celebrations and, if you're lucky, “one more birthday; one more bachelor/bachelorette party; one more baby/bridal shower; one more office mixer; one more first/last date; one more night to meet the love of your life, or just of your night,” Eshelman says.

Closing weekend schedule is Thursday, Sept. 5, 9 p.m.-2 a.m.; Friday and Saturday, Sept. 6-7, 5:30 p.m.-2 a.m.; and Sunday, Sept. 8, for brunch from 11 a.m.-6 p.m.
