On the beach in Playa del Rey, Playa Provisions is four restaurant concepts in one 7,000-square-foot space, inspired by L.A.’s country marts. There’s a Small Batch ice cream shop, a casual market counter serving breakfast and lunch, a backroom whiskey bar and the more high-end dining space called Dockside, dedicated to seasonal seafood. Playa Provisions is the brainchild of Top Chef winner Brooke Williamson and her husband, Nick Roberts. The cozy outdoor patio along the bike path in the heart of Silicon Beach is a great place to get a relaxing, healthy weekend brunch that can help you lose track of time. Try the coconut chia seed pudding made with fresh fruit, honey and hemp seeds. It will fill you up for the bike ride back or a nice long walk in the sand. Dinner by the fire pit at Dockside is the ultimate L.A. experience, with seafood specialties that include lobster, calamari, Alaskan king crab legs, herb and oil poached salmon niçoise and tropical ceviche. Happy hour is great for watching the sunset and sipping on a Del Rey — blanco tequila, St. George green chili, cucumber, jalapeño, lime, agave and cayenne salt. —Michele Stueven
