Hop Louie is not a destination for great Chinese food, but it is a cultural artifact. Built in Chinatown in 1941, the cocktails are cheaper than what you’d pay at other spots – particularly in the nearby downtown area – and the vibe is kitschy enough to make you not care that the food is only mediocre. However, if you're going to order some eats, go for the crab Rangoon, egg rolls or fried rice. And in the meantime, enjoy the jukebox filled with classic pop oldies, the makeshift dance floor, and the much appreciated low-key vibe.
