The Pasadena hot dog emporium Dog Haus is the "best of the wurst" according to its website. You can bring any order to "a whole new level" with a fried egg for an extra buck. One of the main attractions is the Freiburger, which rests on Hawaiian bread and is stuffed with french fries, cole slaw, fried egg and cheese. There's also the ever-popular Little Leaguer hot dog covered in chili, cheese and crushed Fritos, or the Grand Slam, topped with a tater tots, bacon and a fried egg, are as good as they are formidable. But it's the Sooo Cali that finds the best balance: a handful of green roughage, a few slices of avocado, tomato, shards of tempura-fried onion and a thorough dousing of zesty basil aioli.
