Female Pedestrian Killed after Attempting to Cross Highway in Elk Grove

ELK GROVE, CA (March 30, 2021) – Friday evening on March 19, 23-year-old Lizandro Botello, was struck and killed on Highway 99.

The incident occurred around 8:45 p.m., near Sheldon Road. However, the events leading up to the crash remain unclear.

Per reports, Botello tried to cross the northbound lanes of the highway when he was struck by several cars.

Botello was pronounced dead at the scene, due to the extent of injuries sustained.

At this time, it is unclear what caused the crash. Although, an active investigation remains ongoing.

In addition, the surrounding area was closed during preliminary duties. But, the roadway has since reopened to traffic. Those with further information regarding the crash are encouraged to contact local authorities immediately.
