As our battle with Covid-19 rages on, we are finding ourselves living more and more back inside the box.  Meal kits are the new normal – an expanding way for restaurants and chefs to find creativity and competition in a time of crisis.

According to www.fmifoundation.org, a study published in The Journal of Nutrition Education and Behavior, the pandemic has brought on an increase in family meals. The study showed that more frequent family meals were associated with better dietary and family functioning outcomes.

It confirmed that family meals keep us connected.  Seventy-one percent (71%) of people who have been eating more in-person meals (and 70% having more virtual meals) agree that “I feel more connected to my family since the pandemic has started.”  More than one-third recognize that they eat better and 40% say that the food they eat is more balanced or healthier than the food they eat when alone.
