In case your lifeline to Brooklyn is broken: Woodsist is a four-year-old record label, founded by Woods guitarist Jeremy Earl, that caters to fans who like things gloriously unvarnished, or who think the Vivian Girls are original. The label has brought a small army of lo-fi loyalists to the West Coast this week, selling out its Woodsist Festival in Big Sur over the weekend and arriving at the Echo and Echoplex tonight with a lineup so hip you'd swear last night's earthquake happened just move Williamsburg a few inches closer. New Jersey's talented psych-poppers Real Estate and Earl's own soundscapey quartet are well worth their top billing, but Philadelphia's purveyor of intense, weather-beaten classic rock, Kurt Vile, who followed up last fall's “Childish Prodigy” album on Matador with his “Square Shells” EP last month, is the festival's secret weapon. Plenty more to choose from: Abe Vigoda, Nodzz, Art Museums, the Mantles, Sun Araw, the Baths and All Saints Day.

Elsewhere: Thurston Moore plays an acoustic 12-string set at Synchronicity Space, joined by Brooklyn's Spectre Folk. … Sting joins up with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra at the Hollywood Bowl. … Justin Currie of Del Amitri plays acoustic behind the the release of his new album “The Great War.” … Jay Brannan headlines the Roxy. … And Abandoned Pools return from a long hiatus to hold forth at Spaceland.

Also: Portland's the Prids, with Kissing Cousins and Tasso, at the Silverlake Lounge; My Education at the Bootleg Theater; Alaskas and Dunes at the Smell; Andy McKee at the Mint; Purple Melon at the Viper Room; Kimberly Caldwell at the Hotel Cafe; Mike Posner at the Key Club; and a couple of in-stores — Georgia Anne Muldrow at Amoeba (7 p.m.); and Alex Bleeker at Origami Vinyl (5).
