“Distant Relatives,” the meeting of the musicial minds of Nas and Damian “Jr. Gong” Marley, has already earned some well-deserved plaudits. Indeed, there's a lot to like on the album (released this week), with the New York City rapper's tightly wound narratives twined with Marley's thick Jamaican grooves. The duo's appearance at the Roxy tonight (a MySpace secret show; they're at the Wiltern on May 28 too) is value-added — DJ Cut Chemist is debuting his one-turntable show. Does that involve magic tricks or something?

Elsewhere: Edwards Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros play their final local show before a huge (50 or so dates) summer of touring — tonight they do Royce Hall at UCLA. … Minus the Bear, paired with SoCal bands Everest and Young the Giant (formerly the Jakes), play the Mayan Theatre. … Massive Attack ends its three-night run at the Wiltern. … And bouncy Swedes Shout Out Louds play the first of two nights at the El Rey Theatre.

Also: the cast of “Glee” at the Gibson Amphitheatre; Casxio and Vanaprasta at the Troubadour; Chris Hillman's acoustic set/Q&A at the Grammy Museum; Nashville Pussy at the Key Club; Bastard and the Shrine at Spaceland; the Royal Highness at the Viper Room; Alan Morphew at the Mint; and Barron Von Luxxury at the Silverlake Lounge.
