What do worms sound like? Zimoun knows. He is a 32-year-old sound installation artist from Switzerland. He makes things that make noise. These tend to be mechanical things that make sounds that are strangely organic, like rain or waterfalls. (Go here for examples.) You get the feeling that Zimoun must be one of those people who pays really, really close attention to TV static.

As we head into the Thanksgiving weekend, I'd like to draw your attention to his recent piece “25 woodworms, wood, microphone, sound system.”

It is an installation based on live woodworms. Are there really 25 of the worms? Are they eating the wood? What are they doing in there? Is this piece for sale? I don't know. But the woodworms sound like a lovely crackling holiday fire.
