Music moves fast these days. Seems like it was only a month or so ago that we put Flying Lotus on the L.A. Weekly cover, signifying the maturation of a young and red-hot local scene.

Well, that ol' beat music movement has already spawned a second generation, and it's populated by projects like Matthewdavid's Veux, Asura, quickly rising Anticon signee Baths and part-time San Franciscan Shlohmo.

The last two on that list come together on a freshly leaked track from Shlohmo's just-released Friends of Friends EP Camping (read SF Weekly's review of Camping here).

Here, Baths takes 'Mo's “Post Atmosphere” and dunks it in twenty thousand leagues of deep blue sea, overlaying resonant piano figures, breathy vocals and odd effects for a song that transcends whatever it was you thought you knew about chillwave and beat music.
