A jovial jam-packed weekend to forward look to, at least in Silver Lake, as the Silver Lake Jubilee — sort of Sunset Junction Street Fair's little hipster sister (or is it?) — takes over the already busy neighborhood.

This weekend we suggest staying in the area for your dancing needs pre and post street stomping. From Jubi after-bashes to theme happenings and nostalgic cosplay (prom anyone?) in Echo Park, there's plenty of party options on “the Eastside.”

There still ain't a better word for the area, so we're using it, and it's not the end of the world if we do.

Or is it?!?

John “Jellybean” Benitez (of NYC club and Madonna BF/producer fame) pops into Niteshift at El Cid to kick off a wild weekend in the hood. Mikey Velasquez and Eddie B. (HAWT Music) join along with residents Juan Hoerni and Joseph Munguia. 4212 Sunset Blvd. More info here.

Bootie boppers are invited to dress up in prom finery, get their photo taken, and win cash prizes and honors including “Prom King,” “Prom Queen,” and “Cutest Couple” at Bootie LA's Prom party. Paul V. and Shyboy spin the club's signature mash-ups and bootleg remixes, a genre blend that'll get the crowd humping – with or without a spiked punchbowl. Midnight dance performance from R.A.I.D. At the Echoplex, 1154 Glendale Blvd. www.bootiemashup.com

Looking for a more purist dance party that'll make your rump rock? Look no further than upstairs at Funky Sole, the long running raw funk soul club at the Echo. DJ Soft Touch, Chico and Music Man Miles hold down the sweaty shakers, familiar and obscure. Hit Bootie upstairs and Funky downstairs, and you've got yourself a workout, fo sho. 1822 Sunset Blvd. www.attheecho.com

Sat. AND Sun., May 21-22

Two post Jubilee jams to join this weekend offer floor freakin' to some fine DJ talent (expect a lot of vinyl).

1) Sunset Jubilee has live bands, Flamenco shows, a wedding(?) and DJs galore both days and nights at El Cid. 4212 Sunset Blvd. www.elcidla.com

2) Guest DJs selected by Chris Ziegler (L.A. Record) & Co. mesh sounds for the hot/hip messy masses at the Jub's official after-parties at Malo, 10 p.m. til closing. 4326 West Sunset Blvd. www.malorestaurant.com

Sun., May 22

The second edition of Disco Dive on the Standard Downtown Rooftop gets dirty with Woolfy (DFA, Permanent Vacation). The disco damaged UK to LA transplant gets off in after dark settings, and he's likely blow the roof off at this enduringly atmospheric daytime locale too. A duo called Pools (Mike B and DJ Morse Code) spin too, providing pumping “pool music” in its most logical setting. Also with DJs Mr. Biggs (Dub Dorado/Turntable Lab), Music Dept and BCB. Live art and free pool toys. 550 S. Flower St. Info and RSVP here.

ADDENDUM: The Do-Over debuted its Summer season last Sunday at El Cid, but the Stone's Throw Records-supported, hip-hop/funk/soul DJ-jamboree got shut-down for noise complaints (and maybe the insane amount of peeps we saw waiting in line all day?) No word yet on if they'll continue the party there or how it might be impacted by Jubilee, but we'd keep an eye on the club's blog for info.
