A drink- and dance-filled little Christmas is assured with these pre- and post-holiday happenings! Even if you don't get what you want under the tree this year, these parties will bring you cheer … and beer and beats. Seasons groovings to all, and to all, some good nights.

Fri., Dec. 23

The Ugly Christmas Sweater Party has become a social staple in Los Angeles. We think there is no better place to participate than a downtown dive bar. At Bar 107's sweater soiree, you never know what you're going to see: random street characters in Santa hats or artsy loft dwellers in sequined Salvation Army finds. One thing's for sure. The serious drinkers will be rocking their reindeer wear; everyone in the hideous holiday gear gets to down drink specials all night. The more you drink, the uglier the sweaters look, too! Also stop by “Bar Won O'Seven” (as it's known on Facebook) the day after Christmas for their subversive ode to the baby Jesus' conception, the XXXmas Party, featuring '70s porn on the TV screens and free Chinese food. 107 W. 4th St., Dwntwn. www.facebook.com/events/182588155170800/?ref=ts

Betsey Johnson's festive frocks are perfect for holiday shindigs, so you can bet their own Christmas Party at Eden nightclub (open to the public) is going to be filled with frilly-garbed girls. That alone should be enough to get you there, but the DJ list is just as attention grabbing: Keith 2.0 (Moscow, Animal, Moonlight Swim, LeDisko) and DJ Metric (Fever, Cannonball, Roosevelt), the duo who made Drais the spot for fashion fetes. Early birds get Betsey J gift bags. 1650 Schrader Blvd. Hollywood. www.facebook.com/events/264732923581666/?ref=ts

Sat., Dec. 24

On Christmas Eve, the hippest bah-humbuggers and beat heads in town will gather at Total Wreck, the bar bash featuring the music heads behind LA Record, plus sexy elf DJ Shorts Shorts. LAR's resident Chris Z is outta town, so Dan Collins takes over vinyl duty. Expect musical chestnuts roasting on the open decks, including soul, fuzz punk and rock, plus “Christmas obscurities.” Free. At Footsies, 2640 N Figueroa St. www.facebook.com/events/238842026184521/

The reigning ragers of psych-trance, Infected Mushroom, sprout up again behind the decks at Avaland this week. The Israel-bred, L.A.-based duo (Amit “Duvdev” Duvdevani and Erez Eisen) jam this special pre-holiday humper with new material and classics that are anything but moldy. Though the IM's music is heavy, trippy trance, don't be surprised to hear them drop a bit of dubstep or rock in their set, both influences culled from a year of festival gigs. As always, there's “room” for experimentation with these two. At Avaland, 1735 Vine St., Hollywood. www.avalonhollywood.com
