Cosmic rave-like excursions, fetishistic extravaganzas, undead dance orgies, Chinatown birthday blowouts… it's another week in party picks. Enjoy!

Fri., Aug. 12

A decade ago Club Underground opened its doors at Tempest on Santa Monica Blvd. Unlike most clubs, it was able to not only survive, but flourish after moving across town to the Echo midway through its existence. Now, promoter Larry G has announced it will once again be changing ground. He hasn't revealed where yet, but the popular indie/Brit pop night seems likely to endure. We'll keep you posted when we find out. In the meantime, this Friday will bring together all the DJs who've spun there for a foot-stomping, hair-flinging farewell: Dia, Larry G., Mark, Diana and Clifton. Plus there'll be a Pulp theme with give-aways and a Jarvis Cocker look-a-like contest. The DJs will be late, and the bands, Love Grenades and Fonda, early. 1822 W. Sunset Blvd., Echo Park. Das Bunker celebrates the 30th anniversary of DJ Franck H-Bomba — founder of the famed L.A. industrial club — with a hard throttling dance party in his honor. Franck spins along with DJ Sergio Delirio from Barcelona. 4067 W Pico Blvd. www.dasbunker.org

Sat., Aug. 13

Do you love a man or woman in uniform? Then Studio 69 has your party, an entire evening devoted to military and service attire called “Dressed To Serve.” The postman always rings twice, and so does the UPS guy. The possibilities are endless: nurses, maids, cops, firefighters, schoolgirls, and of course the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marines! 69's parties are always over-the-top affairs and this one, which has moved to The Dragonfly from Vanguard, should be no exception. DJs and live performances all night. Prepare to WORK it. 6510 Santa Monica Boulevard. www.perish69club.com

One of the longest running gothic and dark-themed clubs in Hollywood, Bar Sinister, marks another bewitching year (lucky 13 to be exact) with a special celebration featuring Zombie Girl (aka Renee Cooper), plus DJs Tommy, Amanda Jones. John C, Satoki and Joe Letz (Combichrist). Free T-shirts & goodie bags. Picking up pre-sale tix a good idea; decadent dress-up a must. At Boardners, 1652 N Cherokee Ave. Hollywood. www.barsinister.net

Club AM/FM at the Grand Star in Chinatown is always a fun, fairly-intimate dance party, but this Saturday promises to be its most high frequency fete yet. There will be multiple birthday bashes (the Leo lovin' continues!) for Matador Y Toros photog Gerry Acuna and Club Underground's Larry G, who both will get on the decks. The evening will also feature sets by Wendy City and Alex Transistor. Expect dance-your-ass-off indie, funk, disco, retro party jams all night. 943 N. Broadway. Facebook invite here.

Trip out (in more ways than one) in the Psychedelic Desert, an excursion which takes place not too far outside of L.A. (The “secret location” is an hour and half from downtown). The ravey electronic dance gathering takes place, according to the organizers, in “another dimension, somewhere in between the worlds of reality and infinity, somewhere outside of the boundaries of your own imagination.” In other words don't plan on being sober. Scheduled DJs include NY's Frankie Bones, SF's D.R.C., and L.A.'s Jonathan Morning, Liquid Fish, Diva DJ Egypt, Bulimiatron, Anthera, Haos Ninja, plus many more, not to mention vendors, art installations, and fire hoopers. Parking and camping are included in the $22 cover, and pre-sale tickets are available here.
