There is never a better excuse for excess and revelry than a birthday or anniversary. This week, two such occasions are mark-the-calendar-worthy, at the Avalon Hollywood and at the new Los Globos. An overnight excursion, a popular Italian DJ duo and a last splash from one of summer's best electronic music soirees round out the events this week.

Friday, Sept. 16

Booze and boobs on a boat trip to Mexico. What's not to like? Kandy Cruise, which takes the Playboy Mansion party to the seas, offers a slew of DJs spinning “Miami-style mixes.” Headliners include Paul Oakenfold and EC Twins, but one suspects that it's not the boys behind the decks who will be getting all the attention. Tickets and info at www.kandykruise.com.

Italy's Crookers offer their twisted house hybrids at Control. The duo, known as Phra and Bot, will likely spin from their latest Dr. Gonzo Anthem EP; their extensive remix repertoire ranges from AC/DC to Gaga. Also with Nick Catchdubs, Will Bailey, Deth Hurtz And Bones. At Avalon, 1735 Vine St., Hollywood. www.avalonhollywood.com

Saturday, Sept. 17

Though Scarlett Casanova's Hang The DJs has been on hiatus for several months, she's always up for a birthday bash. As HTDJs marks its eight year anniversary, its hostess' own b-day – and, we hope, a return to Eastside raging – will be at a notable new venue, Los Globos. The Latin club on Sunset Blvd. in Silver Lake has been taken over by Steve Edelson (owner of El Cid) and word is, it'll be showcasing much more in the dance club department, going beyond its usual salsa, cumbia, ranchero sounds. Saturday will feature sets by DJ Paparazzi, Poolside, Aaron Castle and Mexico's Salon Acapulco, plus Club Underground DJs Larry & Diana. 3040 W Sunset Blvd. Silver Lake. Facebook invite here.

Pool parties are slowing drying up, so get wet while you still can! At Afternoon Delight's final fete of Summer, spinners include Jask, Wiseacre, Adam Auburn, Dirty (Delight Miami co-founder), West Coast Collective, Zack Hill & Steven Dimitri, David Bullock, Joseph Munguia and Morgan Shim. At the Custom Hotel Pool (1pm – 8pm Poolside, 8pm – 2am Inside) 8639 Lincoln Blvd. (310) 645 0400 www.auburneventsla.com or www.homemadela.com

Freak City throws down some Hi-Fa$hion Ba$$ with L.A. Electro Funk Legends Egyptian Lover & Arabian Prince (NWA) on the decks. The Lady Tigra hosts and they'll be live music by Rumors, The Keyishe, Pharaohs, Zom-belle and B.C. Fashion show by L.A. RAP! 6363 Hollywood Blvd. www.freakcity.la

Tuesday, Sept. 20

Two years of dress up and pansexual debauchery has got to be done big, way big. Trust that Mr. Black LA will deliver. They've got a dramatic Masquerade Ball planned this Tuesday; think Eyes Wide Shut meets Studio 54. With Moet and Chandon hosting/toasting the bodacious bash (plus expanded dance areas and DJs) it should be extra bubbly and badass. Start planning that outfit immediately! 1737 Vine St., Hollywood. www.mrblackla.blogspot.com
