Charlie Chaplin and Buster Keaton appeared onscreen together only once: in Limelight, which the Aero is screening on 35mm at 7:30 p.m. Chaplin — who wrote, directed, produced, starred and composed the score — was denied re-entry to the United States after premiering the film in London, having been accused of being a communist sympathizer. A deeply personal, autobiographical project, the film stars Chaplin as a former music-hall star whose popularity has waned in recent years — an obvious parallel to the Tramp himself.
