Here's an inspiring story about two comedy legends, dogs and generosity. Comic Elayne Boosler — who spends much of her considerable energy rescuing dogs through her Tails of Joy organization — began enlisting comedy pals for a benefit to help fellow animal crusader (Death Row Dogs Rescue) Stephanie LaMotta, who is in dire need of surgery. Boosler called pal Lily Tomlin and “begged” her to do five minutes. “I was shocked when she said she'd do the whole show herself. Can you imagine?” Boosler tells us. “So it's An Evening With Lily Tomlin — all her this time — but I'll be there holding her coat. Lily has worked tirelessly for years for elephant advocacy. I'm ashamed to admit it, but when I asked her for help, I did tell her Stephanie was an elephant.”
