A solo figure starts to play at a piano, seemingly unaware as video inserts a white clad dancer reaching across the keyboard, responding to the music-making. Such integration of video, music and movement are central concepts for Avant Media.  In its latest endeavor, Memoire-en-Ciel, choreographer Dani Beauchamp and composer Randy Gibson set out to capture each color of the light spectrum in a series of seven movements for three dancers. Gibson performs the live piano music that supports the series of solos, duets and trios exploring the dance suggested by each of the distinct hues that make up a rainbow. The group describes its process as “parallel collaboration”, find out how they’ve combined dance, original music and video in this new effort.
