Only slightly harder to believe than that Bob Marley’s been gone for 34 years already is the fact that there’s such a beautiful, kaleidoscopic treasury of his life as Roger Steffens’ extravaganza Life of Marley, a multimedia show in honor of the musician’s 70th birthday. More than 42 years’ worth of Steffens’ exhaustive research into Marley’s world has been distilled into his forthcoming oral history, to be published by W.W. Norton this summer. The former KCRW Reggae Beat host holds forth tonight, explaining the spaces between the scores of unseen pictures and extortionately rare films of the man, his life and times.
