Liz OhanesianLA-based trio Liars announced this morning through Mute Records details of the band's upcoming tour. The North American jaunt will launch at El Rey Theatre on April 10 with fellow locals Fol Chen in the opening slot.
Liars new album, Sisterworld, is set for a March 9 release. It was written and recorded in Los Angeles. At the their Mute Records website, the band describes the sound on the album as being in “Liars' own space, completely devoid of influence, somewhere remote from the false promises and discarded dreams amassed in LA. In it Liars explore the underground support systems created to deal with loss of self to society… According to band, 'We're interested in the alternate spaces people create in order to maintain identity in a city like LA. Environments where outcasts and loners celebrate a skewered relationship to society.'”
The band has announced that the new album will be available in a special extended format that will feature an additional collection of “remixes and reinterpretations” from a roster of talent that reads like a who's who of sonic experimentation. Guest artists include Thom Yorke, Tunde Adebimpe of TV on the Radio, Bradford Cox of Deerhunter, Melvins, Blonde Redhead, Suicide co-founder Alan Vega and electronic music innovators Chris & Cosey.
