Driver Arrested after Killing Unborn Baby in Multi-Car Collision near Bell Road

PHOENIX, AZ (March 27, 2023) – Monday morning, Leslie Yeager was arrested and an unborn baby was killed in a hit-and-run crash on 9th Street.

Authorities responded to the scene shortly before 10:30 p.m., near Groves Avenue just north of Bell Road.

Per reports, two women were occupying a vehicle and attempted to turn left. There, Yeager struck their vehicle for DUI related reasons.

Upon impact, both vehicles veered off the roadway when Yeager fled the scene without rendering aid to the victims. Yeager then drove to a 711 where she then fled on foot. A witness then followed her and tipped police.

Medics arrived and transported a pregnant passenger in the vehicle that was hit to a nearby hospital for further treatment. There, her 7-month-old fetus was later pronounced dead.

Meanwhile, officers administered a breath test and determined that 39-year-old Yeager was three times past the legal alcohol limit. As a result, police booked her to jail with DUI charges, manslaughter, hit-and-run, aggravated assault, endangerment, and assault on an officer.

No words can mend the broken hearts and sorrow felt during this delicate moment. Deepest condolences and sympathies are with the family and friends of the victims.
