Two-Vehicle Collision on Maher Road Resulted in Two Fatalities, One Injured

PRUNEDALE, CA (October 13, 2022) – Monday morning, a head-on crash on Maher Road left two people dead, and Leslie Gonzalez Frias injured. 

The fatal incident occurred around 5:10 a.m. on Maher Road, per initial reports.

According to the investigators, a westbound Ford Explorer crossed the median and collided head-on with an eastbound Nissan Pathfinder.

The impact of the crash left significant damage to both vehicles. Unfortunately, the driver and the passenger of the Nissan, identified to be 63 and 68 years old, died at the scene.

Monterey County coroner’s office will provide the names once the next of kin has been notified.

Responding paramedics transported the Ford driver, 20-year-old Leslie Gonzalez Frias, to Natividad Medical Center with major injuries.

At this time, Monterey County Officials are working to determine the factors that contributed to the incident.
