19-Year-Old Female Passenger Pronounced Dead after Speeding Collision near Southern Avenue
LAVEEN, AZ (August 23, 2023) – Saturday evening, Lesli Vega Bolanos was killed in a 2-car accident on 35th Avenue. The incident occurred just before 9:30 p.m., near Southern Avenue on August 19th. Per reports, two vehicles were street racing when they collided, sending one vehicle into a power pole. Upon impact, one of the vehicles also rolled over. Medical personnel arrived and pronounced 19-year-old Bolanos dead at the scene. In addition, crews say four others also suffered injuries, one in critical condition. Moreover, at least 7,200 people were affected by the power outage caused by the incident. And on Sunday, power was restored to almost everyone. The loved ones of Bolanos set up a GoFundMe page to help with costs during this difficult time. Following preliminary duties, impairment was not listed as a factor of the incident, but speed is suspected.
