Vehicle Crash near Highway 87 Left 47-Year-Old Dead
SAN JOSE, CA (February 4, 2022) – A motorcycle crash on Highway 101 claimed the life of Leonard Melo early Tuesday morning.
According to California Highway Patrol, they received the report about the crash at 1:13 a.m. within the vicinity of Highway 87.
Furthermore, CHP said Melo was riding a 2008 Harley Davidson.
Eventually, he lost control of the bike and collided with the highway’s center median.
Melo was also accompanied by a passenger at the time of the collision.
Moreover, both of them were ejected from the motorcycle as a result and fell onto the roadway.
Consequently, emergency responders pronounced Melo dead at the scene while his companion was hospitalized with significant injuries.
CHP said alcohol or drugs do not seem to be a factor in the crash.
Following the incident, authorities closed all lanes of southbound 101 and diverted traffic to Highway 87.
The right lane later reopened after 30 minutes while the remaining lanes remained closed until 4:30 a.m.
