45-Year-Old Man Fatally Struck in Pedestrian Collision near Hazelwood Street

PHOENIX, AZ (December 9, 2021) – Sunday morning, 45-year-old Leo Montenegro, was killed in a pedestrian accident on 27th Avenue.

The crash took place around 3:00 a.m., near North 27th Avenue and Hazelwood Street, as per the report. Dispatchers responded to the scene shortly after.

Officers discovered that the driver of a northbound SUV struck the male pedestrian near North 27th Avenue. Paramedics responded and transported the victim to a local hospital for further treatment.

Despite life-saving efforts, medics later pronounced Montenegro dead. Meanwhile, the driver of the SUV stayed at the scene and cooperated with the investigation.
