55-Year-Old Driver Pronounced Dead after Semi-Truck Accident near Grand Avenue

PHOENIX, AZ (February 2, 2022) – A car crash near 24th Avenue claimed the life of LeAndre Johnson Saturday evening.

The deadly collision happened near 24th and Grand Avenue shortly after 9:00 p.m. on January 29th.

According to the police, the driver of a silver SUV was heading north on Grand Avenue at a high rate of speed. There, they struck a semi-truck that was making a left turn onto the roadway.

Consequently, 55-year-old Johnson, the driver of the silver SUV sustained life-threatening injuries. Due to the extent of his condition, he was later pronounced dead at the scene.

Meanwhile, the semi-truck driver remained at the scene for further investigation.

Authorities shut down the road temporarily while clearing the crash scene but it reopened shortly after. Further circumstances surrounding the fatal collision remain under investigation.
