Coffee geeks in Pasadena have had it good for some time, between Jones Coffee Roasters and Intelligentsia and now the new Copa Vida in Old Town. This spring, they'll be getting even more espresso love, thanks to Lavender & Honey Espresso Bar, opening in this spring on East Washington Boulevard and Hill, in the northern part of town near Altadena.

Lavender & Honey is a project from Melanie Porter and her husband, Charlie, who wanted to bring their version of an Old World–style coffee shop and deli to what they describe as an “underserved area of Pasadena.” Which it is, really. Great for burritos and Armenian food, but the La Marzoccos are scarce.

But not for long.

If things go as planned, construction on the shop will start this month and the Porters hope to open their doors and rev up their Marzocca Linea in April. Melanie Porter says they'll “focus on traditional brewing methods, as well as pour-overs and cold-brews, with coffee from various specialty roasters.”

In addition to all that caffeine, Lavender & Honey will have a hot chocolate bar, an assortment of pastries (including gluten-free items), made-to-order sandwiches and salads, ice cream sandwiches from Manhattan Beach Creamery and a children's menu. Welcome to the neighborhood, indeed.

While you're waiting for them to crank up that espresso machine, you can follow them on Twitter, via Tumblr or Instagram.
