46-Year-Old Woman Dies in Pedestrian Accident near Roger Road

TUCSON, AZ (January 9, 2023) – Early Tuesday morning, Laura Patricia Ortega was killed in a pedestrian crash on North Flowing Wells Road.

Police responded to the scene just before 5:00 a.m., on the 3900 block of North Flowing Wells Road near Roger Road.

Per reports, Ortega was crossing the street mid-block outside of a marked crosswalk while wearing dark-colored clothing. There, the driver of a 2017 Ram Promaster 1500 struck her.

Upon arrival, officers saw 46-year-old Ortega unconscious on the highway and pronounced her dead at the scene. In addition, the involved driver cooperated with the investigation.

Following preliminary duties, police say that impairment was not a factor and no citations or arrests have been made. At this time, an active investigation to determine further information is still underway.
