Prosecutors today alleged that a 24-year-old woman named Laura L. Purviance murdered her own mother in Woodland Hills two weeks ago.

Charges against the suspect were unveiled today by the L.A. County District Attorney's office, which says the woman used a gun to end her 61-year-old mom's life.

The victim's body was discovered …

… earlier this month at the daughter's residence in the 5600 block of Mason Avenue, according to the DA's office. Prosecutors believe the woman was murdered Feb. 13.

After being considered a fugitive, Purviance was arrested by state troopers at a rest stop near Medford, Ore., on Friday, according to prosecutors and records.

(LAPD took custody of her yesterday, according to county jail inmate data.)

Purviance is charged with murder as well as three counts related to using a gun during the crime, according to the DA's felony complaint.

Arraignment was scheduled for March 21. Purviance was being held in lieu of $2 million bail.

If prosecutors are successful, Purviance could see life behind bars.

It's not clear what allegedly set her off.
