Surfers are still wearing their “full suits” in the water, and it's almost August. Light jackets and sweaters come out at night on the Westside. And if you're using air conditioning at night you're a glutton. It's officially one of the coolest summers on record for Southern California. The National Weather Service on Thursday recorded record-low overnight temperatures for the region.

LAX tied 1986's record low at 59. UCLA set a new mark at 56. Oxnard beat its previous low mark, set in 1987, with a 51. Santa Barbara Airport — and I think we can say this with some accuracy — was downright cold at 48. Bundle up.
