Last night, Matisyahu took over Downtown L.A.'s Club Nokia with an inspired, varied set of reggae and hip-hop set to traditional Jewish themes that brought out an equally diverse crowd.  With the recent release of his EP, Shattered, Matisyahu and his band are out playing tunes from that, plus the upcoming full length which is due early next year. Old favorites and new tracks alike kept fists pumping all night long. Later in the set the band played a drum and bass track with Matisyahu beat boxing over the top that had me transfixed.

Denver's The Flobots opened the show with an equally rousing set. I had the chance to catch them live twice during the DNC this year and couldn't wait to hear that violin accompany those beats again.
